Call to Worship (Responsively)

Pastor: Alleluia! Give thanks to God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, for he is good;

People: God’s steadfast love endures forever!

Pastor: Christ is risen! The right hand of the LORD is exalted.

People: Because Christ has dealt death a lethal blow,

Pastor: We shall not die, but we shall live.

Prayer of Adoration

Confession and Assurance of Pardon

O God, we are ashamed of our downcast eyes and long faces when our hearts should be filled with gladness, and our mouths shouting for joy! We should be smiling! We should be joyful! We should be laughing or crying with gladness! How sad it is to be downcast or discouraged or careless, when You have answered our dilemmas with the good news of eternal life. When You have defied death, and all that would threaten us, and set us free in the joy of resurrection! But yet, trivialize Easter by commercializing it instead of focusing on the resurrection.We overlook those in need. Full of fear, we say nothing to anyone about the Good News. Lift us up, O life-giving Lord! Render us speechless in the majesty of Your saving power. May we stand in awe of Your Spirit, who breathed life again into Jesus, and raised him up, the first-fruits of the Kingdom. Hallelujah and Amen!

Old Testament Reading: Isaiah 25:6-9

“The Word of our Lord” “Thanks be to God”

Message: “She Saw the Lord & Alive!”– John 20:1-18

Affirmation of Faith – “The Apostle’s Creed” (Insert, Back of Hymnal)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; The holy catholic church; The Communion of Saints; The Forgiveness of sins; The Resurrection of the Body, And the Life everlasting. Amen.
