“FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT & Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan”. This 1st Sunday of Advent, the First Candle will be lit and we will remember and pay homage to the Church’s Scottish ancestry with a “Kirkin’ O’ the Tartan.” All members with Scottish family ties are invited to wear their family tartan. Also, The Lord’s Supper will be observed on Sunday, December 1 during the worship service. All who have joined with Jesus Christ through their baptism as well as children who have been instructed by their parents are welcome to participate.
men’s & ladies’ Breakfasts. The Men and Women of the Church will gather December 4 at 8:00 AM at Rancher’s Steak House, Wednesday. All are welcome – bring a friend/neighbor.
SESSION MEETING. The Session will meet Thursday, December 12 at 7 PM in the Fellowship Hall.
PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN. The Ladies will meet at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 10, in the Fellowship Hall for their Annual Christmas Party. There will be a Chinese Gift Exchange. All ladies are welcome.
“CHRISTMAS DINNER THEATER”. For the first time we are having a “Christmas Dinner Theater”, Friday, December 13, at 6:00 P.M. A dinner (steak, baked potato, and green beans) will be catered by “Feed Mill” at a cost of $16 a plate. A special menu for the little ones will be provided. All reservations with payment are due to Gayle Wheat no later than December 6. After the meal, we will be entertained in the sanctuary by our local talent. Anyone wanting to demonstrate their gifts of entertainment, skills, abilities at music, storytelling, dance, comedy, etc., are welcome to participate. Please let Gayle know if you would like to contribute. Extended family and friends are welcome. This will fun – I guarantee!
CHURCH DINNER. Everyone is invited to the monthly dinner, Sunday, December 15 immediately following the worship service. Our hostesses are Linda Davis & Crew. Please join us for great food and warm fellowship. Bring a neighbor.
Stewardship Campaign. The Session has approved a Stewardship Campaign for the church and its mission. “The 3 T’s (Time, Talents, Treasure)” has begun with a letter to each family explaining the campaign. Included in each letter is a survey for each church member to acknowledge their talents in supporting various church functions and activities. Members are asked to complete the survey with signature and contact info and return to Elder Ann Davey, any Elder, or Pastor Buddy no later than December 15 (Third Sunday Dinner). Please support this effort.
“Main Street” CHRISTMAS CONTATA. A Christmas Cantata will be presented Sunday, December 15 at 6:30 at the First Baptist Church. For those unable to attend, a dress rehearsal is also open for the public on Wednesday, December 11, at 6:30 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church. The Choir is made up of voices from around the community under the direction of Charles Ament. Nine members of TPCG choir will participate. Come and celebrate the Christmas season with beautiful music and song.
BELL SUNDAY. This year you will be given TWO opportunities to bring and ring your bell for Christmas. The first occurrence will be the Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 22 and, this year, for all those who will forget to bring your bell you can do so on Christmas Eve. The purpose of ringing our bells is to announce Christmas and the birth of the Christ Child. Bring a bell of any size to help “ring in” Christmas.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE. A Candlelight Service will be held Christmas Eve, December 24, 2019, at 6:30 P.M. to await the coming of the Christ Child. The Lord’s Supper will be served to all who are joined with Jesus Christ through their baptism and all children who have been instructed by their parents.
LITURGISTS (LAY READERS). Pastor Buddy is always looking for a few good men and women who will assist in the worship service as lay readers. If you can breathe and read then this is a great way to contribute to the worship of God. Just pick a Sunday, sign up (sheet is on the bulletin board in the hallway), and everything is provided for you.
BIRTHDAY FUND. Several years ago, the Birthday Fund was established to raise funds to use in our community mission outreach. Each birthday celebrant was to donate a dollar for each year celebrated. Recently the funds have been used to assist people getting back on their feet after a tragic fire, American Cancer Society, and for Senior Night; therefore, the funds are very low because our birthday folks have forgotten to donate. Please consider donating to this gracious fund when you celebrate your birthday. If you desire, you can also designate your donation to support special missions by noting that on the check.
